General Comments:
• We have been trying to start walking a little earlier each day. Not that we are in a rush or that it is a race, we just love walking in the early morning. Personally, I don’t like walking in the heat so any kilometres I can knock over in the cool of the day is a good thing.
• This morning is delightfully chilly with a light frost in everything. It certainly made us step it out and also made for some stunning views across the countryside.

• The joy of starting early also meant that we were ahead of the crowd… for a short while anyway. There are many, many people walking who are younger than us and simply carrying daypacks. Maybe they are on to something there?
• The signs of intensive agriculture were everywhere today with large farm buildings, machinery and general heavy duty equipment. There must be money in farming in France as we saw quite a bit of construction including massive sheds. Perhaps new dairies?

• Today’s distraction from the rigors of the trail were all the Spring blooms. Daffodils and purple violets just seem to grow wild along the edge of the trail and through the paddocks. It is quite the sight.

Top Tips:
• If you get a chance, consider booking here at Domaine du Sauvage. It was an original pilgrim’s hospital and has been lovingly restored. They do dinner, bed and breakfast and I’ve been told the food is very good. I’ll report back.🍽🍽
• There’s a washing machine here! Woo Hoo!
I will try to post in a more timely manner from here on in, but no guarantees with some long days ahead of us. 😊
Bon Chemin.

Lovely photos. Looks a like a great walk. Not sure I would cope with that huge backpack.

It looks beautiful. But maybe you should upgrade this adventure from a “stroll” to a “hike” as it looks like a bit of an effort. 😉

I do this on purpose to try to kid myself that I’m having fun! 😅 And Yes, it is definitely more of a hike at the moment. This may change as the terrain levels out a bit next week, but maybe I’m kidding myself again!

Cows are everywhere here and they are big buggers! Not sure what breed they are, but they would deliver plenty of 🥩🥩🥩😁

I’m with you on the early mornings. I’m not surprised that a humble accommodation would have good food. France really takes pride in its food.

I think pride is too mild a word. From my observations it is more of a full-blown passion and am thinking they classify a boulangerie as an ‘essential service’!😁

You had a birthday on the trail? With a French birthday cake, of course!

I had a VERY big birthday on day 1. I figure that if I’m not in Aus, it doesn’t count! 🤣🙃

As a night person I can only admire you making such early starts but a quieter trail is a good reward. Congrats on your milestone birthday. Cheers🥂

Many thanks. I figure the birthday number doesn’t actually apply until I return to Aus!🤣🤣
